Pay Eli $97M over 6 years?

Okay I know we have discussed this before but this is still crazy to me. Eli Manning is the highest paid player in the NFL. I know Trey, it's about timing and getting yours when it's your time. But this is Eli Manning. Am I the only person that saw Bad Eli show up in every game after Plaxico Burress shot himself? Does Jerry Reese really think Eli can get the Giants back to the Superbowl?

I understand QB is the hardest position to fill, but Eli had one good streak that happened to coincide with the playoffs and that wouldn't have happened without his 6'5" security blanket.

Career Stats
TDs: 98
INT: 74
Sacks: 120
Rating: 76.1

You could make the argument that the Giants just don't have a choice but that's BS. No one is game planning for Eli. They are game planning for Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw so they don't get run over. I would let Eli play out his contract because I don't believe he can do it without Plaxico.

Mike Vick's career rating is 75.7 and he actually carried his team to the NFC Championship Game.

  1. so Eli is overpaid simply because he's not the best QB in the league, but he's getting paid like it. Over the next 3 to 4 years, I would take the following guys b4 Eli: Peyton, Brady, Phil Rivers, Brees, Jay Cutler for sure. The only folks that truly win off this contract are Phil Rivers and Jay Cutler, they're probably whistling dixie right about now!

  2. only $35 mill is guaranteed so this really aint that bad....

i think it is smart to get his money now before he is exposed playing a full year without a wr threat (hixon, moss, the dude that caught the ball on his head in the super bowl are not the best wr corp)....

get in line phil and jay....humility quit tripping; you know you are taking eli 1st round this year in the romo fan club....
