is this child abuse?

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2009/08/04/pn.kid.dragged.leash.cnn

leashes on children always looks funny to me....

callers are tripping....people get so weird when it comes children nowadays. removing dodgeball from schools, carseats, second hand smoke, organic soy milk, no TV)---alot of these things i agree with are progressive to raise children (and some are coo coo) but the way in which people pass judgement quickly on parents is wild to me....i find it weird that the successful people writing books with advanced psychology degrees say spanking is wrong....

the problem with that is that in most cases it worked for them as children as most of these people were spank and are indeed "on paper" successful. basically the data suggests the complete opposite if you ask me (the moral fiber of the folks of old vs folks of today)....but now to make a few bucks and get some notoriety (in today's society where you Can argue its needed now more than ever).

actually i know when people got all weird about spanking children....i will save that convo for another time....

  1. Hell no this isn't child abuse. That bad ass little brat wouldn't get up off the floor. I don't like to inject race into a lot of arguments, but I have never seen anything like this happen to a Black parent. I can't even recall seeing a Black parent with their child on a leash. I never acted out in public because I knew I would get it so much worse than a normal whoppin whenever I got home.

I don't think the first caller even has children...

  2. The resolution on this video is horrible. But dragging a kid in public I would say is more disturbing to me than she laying hands on her child.

First and foremost, I don't get why placing a leash around your child would be permitted in the first place.

Now if it appeared that the kid was NOT showing resistance as he was being dragged that would raise some flags and I would be probed to call. But he was holding on to the leash and seemed like he was enjoying being dragged. I just think that people needs to mind their own business.

Now after being charged and placed in jail, I'm quite sure that little brat will be getting a nice beat down he won't forget.

Advanced degree people writing books about how to raise a kid without spanking are similar to the folks over in PETA who in my opinion need to get a life. I wish it would be a requirement before getting a degree for them to adopt a black child for 6-month and implement their case study on child development to see if in case their model would yield positive results.
