$30 Billion+ For the Capability to Nuke the Soviet Union

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/03/06/unlike-health-care-when-i_n_488740.html

This article is interesting, Ryan Grim makes the point that whenever one takes issue with the pending Healthcare Bill the cost is brought up. Trillion dollars or more, sometime it's mentioned that is the estimated cost over 10 years but the cost of doing nothing is never mentioned. I guess in that way it's similar to how some people at Intel think, but that's another conversation.

A program or series of programs known as Triad cost tens of billions of dollars each just to maintain and not execute. The programs are designed to drop nuclear bombs on the Soviet Union, not Russia but the Soviet Union. Which no longer exists. The three programs are split between bombers, submarines and ICBMs (intercontinental ballistic missiles). Bombers have long since been deemed obsolete in trying to bomb Russia but they have not been discontinued in this program.

It's amazing how people are not concerned with the things most likely to cause them harm but if people are told they should be scared the cost is no longer an issue. The average American is much more likely to die from losing their health insurance rather than any type of foreign attack, terrorist or not. But the average American doesn't understand how they could lose their insurance, not until they have already lost it. It's amazing what a horrible education system will do to the minds of the flock.

Is there benefit with going against the grain rather than following the herd ? When does too much individuality become foolishness

Great Article for all you arm car economist, but other than justing being a profiteer of the mortgage i was left wondering about how far should someone go against the grain or was this just pure luck.

Rich Eisen's 40 Yard Dash

Where do you think we would stack up?
Eisen ran a 6.25 in a suit and they transposed Cody from Alabama and Jacoby Ford from Clemson to compare.
I would beat Eisen and Cody, I can't believe that a guy that big is faster than me at 25.

BURR!!!?!?!?!?!?!!

1st, that's the first time I yelled that or Gucci since the random screams during Superbowl...A brother was hammered. It happens, heard about it the next day...kinda sucks to hear that about yourself.

So Many Shrimp (remember the great Pimp-C line about I eat so many shrimp, i got iodine posioning) posted the best 25 Gucci verses of 2009.

More importantly, they have a quote which states what I really like about dude:
"So what is so fresh about Gucci’s lyrical style? It’s the way he’s managed to figure out a method of writing so many verses by doing minor variations on a narrow slice of themes to keep things vibrant. If you imagine a Gucci archetype — a track about ice, and cars, and girls, where he says “burr” and the basic Gucci lines like “higher than an owl,” you might think “yeah this guy is generic.” If you listen to more than that, you get this feeling that his is the art of endless variety — that there are a thousand ways to play with “higher than an…” (eagle on california reefer) (mountain lion) (pelican) (skyscraper) (giraffe pussy) (do you see the trees??). Or “press the button, roof turn into nothin” “eazy e drop top, call the car roofless,” “panoramic roof clearer than a cup of water.” He cycles through all these different lyrical themes w/ endless possibility for variety. His ‘dumb flow’ is just panache, letting these kinds of clever lyrics in without having turn his flow into some super-technical overwritten Slaughterhouse-style garbage (mea culpa — I’m a Royce/Crooked I fan). His verses are really tight, & his best ones avoid unneccessary verbiage — his ‘dumb’ delivery actually lets him get away with say more, since he can fit more ideas into a shorter amount of space. & the way this style works almost improvisationally has really upped the bar in terms of productivity for other rappers (poor Gorilla Zoe). So Gucci can release so much material, and have it all be entirely listenable."

Is he Talib, old Common, Jay Electronica..NO! Dude just makes great music that I enjoy hearing.

the saga continues....

Tim Tebow & the Combine

Every year we are reminded of one Mike Mamula, a DE picked 7th in the 1995 draft by the Eagles. He ran a 4.63 and matched Tony Boselli in the bench press. To make matters worse the Eagles traded up with the Bucs to get him. The Bucs went on to draft a guy who went to the U by the name of Warren Sapp... Hall of Famer who made playing DT appealling, that Beyonce dance was horrible though...

On to Tim Tebow. I haven't seen this much sandbagging since I first started playing spades. "It will take at least 2 years for him to develop." What other college QB who gets this much press is expected to do nothing for 2 years?

Anyway 245 lb. 6 ounce baby White Jesus put up big numbers at the combine in everything except throwing the football. He tied the record for a QB's vertical jump, 38.5 inches, had a 9-7 broad jump and ran a 4.72 in the 40. Apparently this means he is a better athlete than we thought...

How can people be impressed by a QB that does non-QB stuff well? It should raise flags, if by watching his game film we didn't think he was a great athlete but he performs great at the combine shouldn't the term "Workout Warrior" come to mind?

If I were a GM I'm not drafting this guy early, if at all. I would rather rewind 10 years and draft Mike Vick and watch everything unfold alreadying knowing what will happen (injuries, dog fighting, etc.) rather than draft Tebow and hope for the best.
