Who Else Is Tired of Kona?

I am tired of going to Kona for happy hour. I know it's close to the office and some of us (really just Emeka) know the bartenders so we get good deals. But even as an extreme creature of habit I recognize it's time to branch out.

Pros
Proximity to work
Proximity to the office
Relationship with Bartenders
Proximity to Z Tejas

Cons
Proximity to work (I like to leave most work relationships at work)
Scenery (nonexistant lately)
It's at the mall
There happy hour menu isn't even good

Suggestions
Tempe Marketplace
North Scottsdale
The "Canal" (whatever they call that strip of man-made water in Old Town)

  1. I agree... I'm not a fan of Majerle's either. Stingray in S. Scottsdale is cool cause Marlena hooks it up. Plus she's fun to BS with and will take shots with you. Marketplace has some cool spots. Kabuki, San Felipe's, Cadillac Ranch. Kona or Yardhouse at the Scottsdale Fashion Square are cool too. Typically Scottsdale chicas.

But, yeah Kona Chandler gets old after a while. I agree. Time to mix it up.

  2. I'll weigh in on a few options I've been to in each area for happy hour:

    Scottsdale:
Stingray-- good but small for a big group
Salty Senorita-- good patio, good scenery
Yardhouse, Kona Grill-- Ace mentions above, both are good, yardhouse has decent food
Loco Patron-- decent place to watch a game, not the best food, but good happy hour deals
    Dos Gringos--
Drift-- Decent happy hour tiki bar, fairly small but can sit outside if you get there for happy hour
Canal, Olive and Ivy-- on the "Waterfront" that Chase mentioned, a bit more upscale/expensive, but good atmosphere.

    Tempe:
Four Peaks-- Great beer, good happy hour, very chill. I like it.
Casey Moore's-- very laid back, good deals on happy hour. I like this spot too.
Tempe Marketplace-- Ace covered this above, I think San Felipe has the best deals of probably all of the spots in the marketplace
Dos Gringos-- Haven't done this in a while, it's right down the street from Four Peaks, and has good deals on food.
Zuma Grill -- on Mill Ave. never done this for happy hour, but it's good for a big group

    There's my $0.02
I would agree we should try something different at least every now and then.
