How to Make the Pro Bowl Relevant

No one watches the Pro Bowl and no one wants to play in it. Change the format, AFC vs NFC with no real defense is not entertaining.

The U vs Everybody else
The U players can where Miami uniforms (obviously wouldn't be allowed) or just throw back to fatigues. This would be fun to watch and the players would give a shit. The players from the U would love to play with each other and show everybody they are the best. Everybody else would want to show that the U isn't that much of a football factory. Think about it, if the U won what would everyone else be able to say about their school?

Ray Lewis
Johnathan Vilma
DJ Williams
Vince Wilfork
Ed Reed
Clinton Portis
Willis McGahee
Frank Gore
Kellen Winslow
Jeremy Shockey
Brian Olson
Andre Johnson
Santana Moss
Reggie Wayne

Obviously filling an entire roster would be tough (I jotted down the first players to come to mind) but it could be done. The only real weakness I can think of is at QB.

The state of Florida vs Everybody else
This is not as interesting as the U vs the rest of the league because the camaraderie isn't there. But the team is better and . I didn't focus on linemen, but they are there. Feel free to add in the handful of legit U of Florida players that actually make an impact in the NFL.

Duante Culpepper (UCF, I know Ace, but who is going to play QB? Trey don't even think about saying Tim Tebow)
Anquan Boldin (FSU)
Brandon Marshall (UCF)
Darnell Dockett (FSU)
Ernie Sims (FSU)
Asante Samuel (UCF)
Antonio Cromartie (FSU)
Sabastian Janikowski (FSU)

The only problem on this team would be playing time, but maybe they could put that aside for ridiculous bragging rights. You can make changes here and there, but this would actually make people want to watch the pro bowl and players care about playing. No other school or state for that matter can come close to filling a pro bowl team. Please list a bullshit complaints about how the U isn't the shit and how the state of Florida produces the best players in the comment section.

  1. i like it on paper or maybe a video game simulation... but you point out the obvious flaw... as good as the u and florida as a state is they cannot fill an entire football roster...

i would be pissed if i were mcnabb/eli being overlook for a probowl candidancy so you can play culpepper, rex, and pull the bachelor jesse palmer out of retirement just so you can have some fun...

but really a football roster is 50 dudes... this may work for the first 20 guys at most but what about the rest...

the game is won at the line.... you will get some decent starters from florida or the u but what happens when they get tired and i am rotating in mario williams, haynesworth, jared allen, suggs, peppers, seymour, the williams tackles, whomever....

hate to say it but team florida will tire and get blown out (similar to a d-2 school playing a d-1 school).... skilled positions are null and void with if they are weak up front.

now if we did east vs west or north vs south... that would be interesting and obviously the team with florida (east or south) would WIN.... hence the SEC (+UM and FSU) is the best conference
