Hip-Hop confessions

so what are yours? here's mine:
- Never thought 2pac was top 10 dead or alive. he's subpar lyrically, just so emotional you HAD to feel him. like the 2nd dude, i never bought a Pac album until after he died, i've got the greatest hits joint now.
- can't listen to Too $hort for more than 15 minutes.
- love bass music (Scarred, Toostie Roll, Da Dip, Whoomp there it is, Do Do Brown, etc, Scrub the ground, Bankhead Bounce, etc...)
- never got into Run-DMC, just didn't really like those dudes.
- feel Slick Rick is top 10 dead or alive off 1 CD and the work with Dougie Fresh.

that's all 4 now...

  1. 1. i am in the same boat and i think many ppl are too with pac even though they won't say it...i had tons of friends that listened to pac so i felt like i had the album...(wouldn't nuthin like playing Madden to "outlaw" and we use to sing brenda's gotta a baby on the bus)...i broke down and bought all eyez on me and makaveli after he passed.
    2. no shame in not being a short fan trev...dude's flow is on the level of puff and master p
    3. bass music...trevor is trippin but i understand a lil bit...we grew up on "the munchies for your bass" and "marrero". i may find those tracks for you.
    4. as a southerner and rap griot i feel bad for not having a scarface album...like his flow but never owned an entire album.
    5. personally i feel that juvenile's "ha" is a rap hood narrative that is just as artistic and real as biggie's "juicy", pac's "so many tears" or whatever. the video and the song tells you everything you need to know about the NO....one of mannie's best production jobs.

that humpty/shock g thing had me dying....for kicks and giggles youtube search "humpty shock g yo mtv raps"....this was hella obvious even to kids visiting the easter bunny at the mall.

  3. Big Boi said it best: "You listen to that booty shake music in your trunk, as long as there's that "tic tic" followed by that bump"

I'm not ashamed to say that i'm a fan. Old Poison Clan, Luke, 2 live crew, Raheem the dream, 69 boyz, Quad City DJ's, Kilo, So So Def Bass All-stars, DJ Smurf, etc...

The only booty shake song that i can't stand is "Coochie Cutters" because I heard it for 36 hours str8 while in a Nashville summer camp because these fools looked themselves out of their dorm room with that song blaring on repeat 1x. :(

  5. - that's my song! i had no idea dj taz did it, but that's GREAT stuff!
    - fully agree with you on Ha
    - never had any geto boys CDs, but i've got a couple of scarface joints.
    - 3rd or 4th sounds about right for aquemini, there's alot of great songs on there.
