Fox Sports just published a list of most overpaid NFL players...
1. Albert Haynesworth: Has already been paid $32M of his $41M four year deal. He's been working for the Skins for 14 months.
2. Roy Williams: Chase's favorite receiver has a 5 year $45M contract to be the #3 receiver.
3. Jay Cutler: $15M per year for the 3rd best QB in the division.
4. Vernon Carey: Who? Exactly... the right tackle for the Dolphins got paid $15M last season.
5. Matt Cassel: $15M per year... enough said.
6. Antonio Bryant: On his 5th team in 8 seasons. Was paid $9M last year (39 catches) and will get $7M this year from Chase's Bengals.
7. Julius Peppers: $20M last season. He's good, but not that good.
8. Eli Manning: $97.5M contract extension. Makes more than his brother.
9. Antonio Smith: The DE for the Texans made $15.5M last season for 4.5 sacks.
10. Brandon Jacobs: Makes $7.5M per year and his best season rushing was 1089 yards. Only 5 TDs, last year.

contracts are about timing mostly since salaries continue to increase. so with the timing of contracts and the most recent super bowl title the eli being paid more than his brother is semi-warranted... we know the best player doesn't always get paid the most.
ReplyDeleteall these guys based on timing were worth this contract at one time... but like james posey and erick dampier they chill post payout a little....
Haynesworth should not be at the top of this list. The Skins are trippin, if you brought me in to let me do my thing and then 1 year later said we want you to do something completely different I'd be pissed too.

Peppers made $20M last year because he was franchised for years in a row (this is an example of a sportswriter with his head up his ass)
