Week 14 Recap

The Bengals showed many flaws against the Vikings. They seemed to run when they should pass and pass when they should run. Carson Palmer made some suspect decisions. The defense played well but the Bengals haven't been able to capitalize on potential turnovers, INTs in particular. The Bengals probably won't get a first round bye and need to figure some things out or they will be bounced in the first round. The Vikings looked like they bounced back however Brett Favre is starting to look old.

The Cardinals continued their inconsistent play in losing to the 49ers. Kurt Warner had one of those games that makes you wonder if he should really be in the Hall of Fame. I don't see this team getting close to the Super Bowl again, but if they click they are dangerous.

The Cowboys continued to lose in December as the Chargers played an ok game. Rivers was unable to connect with VJ and Floyd as much as usual however he made the plays to get it done. The Cowboys are now 0-2 in December and look like they could make Trey right by going 0-5.

DeSean Jackson went off and returned a punt for a TD and had a long TD reception. Some fool said he is the new Devin Hester, that's crazy... DJ is killin it but he is not the returner that Hester was 2 years ago. The Eagles look dangerous but as usual they are not built to run the football. The Giants look like they are ready to fade.

Playoff picture, I think the Cowboys may be able to back into the playoffs. They are not going to beat the Saints unless the Saints screw up. This is what the NFC looks like:

Saints & Vikings get the byes
Eagles win the East
Cardinals win the West
Packers get the 1st wild card

Cowboys 8-5, Giants 7-6, Falcons 6-7 and 49ers 6-7 and fighting for the last spot. This is why the Cowboys may back into the playoffs. The 49ers play the Eagles ths week but then the Lions and Rams.... If the 49ers go 2-1 and the Cowboys go 1-2 the NFL's tiebreaker rules come into play. If Trey is right the Cowboys will lose all 5 games so it wouldn't matter.

AFC
Colts & Chargers get the byes unless the Bengals beat them this weekend and finish at least 2-1

Bengals win the North
Patriots win the East
Broncos & Ravens win the wild cards

Yes the Ravens will win the wild card. They close with the Bears at home, at the Steelers and the Raiders. The other teams have tougher schedules.

Offensive Player of the Year:
Chris Johnson, especially if he gets to 2,000 yards
1626 yards, 11 TDs, 20 runs of 20+ yards

Drew Brees is the runner up
3800 yards, 32 TDs, 10 INTs

Defensive Player of the Year:
Charles Woodson, this is not the first time I said this either.

Elvis Dumervil has 15 sacks and 3 forced fumbles
Jared Allen has 12.5 sacks an INT returned for a TD and 3 forced fumbles
Charles Woodson has 2 sacks, 8 INTs, 2 TDs and 4 forced fumbles

Offensive Player of the Year:
Percy Harvin has 682 yards receiving and 6 TDs
Michael Crabtree has 473 yards and 2 TDs and he plays with Alex Smith, he can make a case for ROY. Of course he won't get it because he held out.

Defensive Player of the Year:
Brian Orakpo has 11 sacks, tied for 4th in the league

Brian Cushing has 112 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 3 INTs
Cushing is 6th in total tackles but only 20th in solo tackles; not a LB think either, only 4 players ahead of him in solo tackles aren't linebackers

The league will probably give it to Cushing though...

  1. all i got to say is why did warner try to screw me yesterday....

that was ridiculous... i thought lienart was coming in on multiple occassions....

next week upsetting the wassup; that's wassup!

on the cowboys going 0-5... i am not trying to be anti-guru or anything (some of us get off on pulling against the cowboys and lakers strictly because of ace) but i do not see them really playing better now than any teams they face over this stretch compound that with the actual mental blocks of december faulting, divisional rivalries, undefeated saints (a regional rivalry for louisianians and texans), and philly being the last team of the season again. they are playing at the level of the skins and maybe at the level of the aints who are probably struggling staying motivated while their opponents are highly motivated (everyone knows the aints are better; its a matter of which aints team shows up)... i see sharper doing something special this weekend; he's been quiet lately and should be matched up with the "boys best player" in witten (especially since i have him in my other league)

  2. Chase loves him some Bengals... To me they don't really matter in the AFC as they have no chance against the Colts or Chargers. In terms of AFC rankings, I have them below the Broncos and the Patriots. Even the Titans are better than them right now. Fortunately for them their division sucks so they'll get a home game and will probably be one and done vs. either Denver or Baltimore (or whoever the other wildcard is).

The Cards are schizo... we know this. Nothing more to say there. I don't think they can get hot and make a run again. Especially if Fitz is banged up. Also Mr. Glass is losing money with his lack of production. He's gonna finish with ~80 catches, 900-1000 yards, and 5-6 TDs. Not sure that translates into Roy Williams money.

DeSean is the truth. Cal baby!!! I've been telling y'all about him since jump.

The Cowboys need to find a way to go 2-1 in these last 3 games. The last NFC wildcard spot comes down to the Giants and Cowboys. The Giants have the tiebreaker, so the Boys need to match their record in the last 3 games. I think the Giants go 2-1 down the stretch, so Dallas has to do the same. An upset of the Aints would be nice, but it's gonna be tough without DeMarcus this week. Their schedule is tough, but don't blame Romo. Blame poor tackling and a shaking kicker. Clearly TO has gotten into the defense and Nick Folk's heads. The play calling hasn't been great either (also TO's fault). We might be headed for the Shannahan era in Big D. Can Jerry Jones let Shannahan do his thing or will there be a power struggle ala Jimmy Johnson?

No argument with your awards. I'm fine with "Every Coach's Dream", CWood, Harvin (although Knowshon is coming on), and Orakpo (Cushing or Clay Matthews could win too).

And Trey is right, y'all love hating on my teams.

  3. I list the Bengals deficiencies and now they are my team?

How does 80 catches, 1000 yards and 6 TDs not generate Roy Williams money? Are you admitting that Roy is ridiculously overpaid? Those stats may have been better than every year except his 1 pro bowl year in Detroit...

Is DeMarcus Ware's injury going to be this years scapegoat for the Cowboys? Skip Bayless tried that bullshit yesterday... Wade is out, so is Garrett. Can Jerry and Stephen Jones deal with Shannahan? All would probably be good until winning ensued and then who gets the credit would cause the most rifts.

Knowshown Moreno is not sniffing rookie of the year... You're smoking crack Ace.
