Time to retire the football helmet?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704402404574527881984299454.html

Article basically goes into the slippery slope that players wouldn't use their bodies and heads as tackle-seeking missles if there were no helmets & less pads. Sure, I understand the concept of moral hazards enabling riskier behavoirs but this seems a lil' much.

  1. haven't read the article but i have heard this argument...

basically a fundamental tackle in rugby is different from a fundamental tackle in football.. the difference being the way you protect yourself as a tackler with no helmet (alot more arm tackling)...

i am not a fan of getting rid of the helmet... i think you open yourself to a lot of injuries early on as people try to learn and convert to helmetless football.... i mean how many eye injuries would you get
