Chicago Teen Involved in Brawl Resulting in Students' Death

This kid is trippin. I blame the parents. A lot of people get the "if somebody hits you, hit them back" speech. But at some point you have to grow out of that and high school is that point. This is a problem amplified by young women having unwanted children. Freakonomics touched on this, it's the chapter about Roe v. Wade having more to do with the drop in crime in NYC than Rudy Guliani.

  1. Post part two of this series I'm interested in seeing what the doctors say about teenage brain that can explain these acts of teenage violence/brawl.

Wow, it's unfortunate to hear this kid show little care for the death of Darion. Huh.. Don't want to be upset with dumb shiiii today...

  2. i sort of get what the kid is saying if i reflect back on how i viewed things in my youth... he is a kid.

sometimes i feel the outcome should not determine the penalty. sort of like how in football helmet to helmet hits may not be called if the victim stands up immediately after a big vicious hit. however the same impact one inch to the left or right could leave a dude unconcious, paralyzed and in that case the perpertrator gets suspended and fined. i think this is the warped mentality of a kid from a certain disposition speaking on a very serious subject with a narrow view. when parents tell their child to stick up for themselves, you hope your child never kills anyone... truth be told at 5-10 yrs old this is probably the case but at some point you hope your kid's maturity level and consciousness grows with his physical strength and resources (gun) and he is able to make certain distinctions.... i don't want to judge too harshly on a teen/young man with a certain upbringing. it would be nice if he was remorseful but i guess he feels where was the remorse when he got hit (that day, the day before and the one before that). truly sad but just trying to understand it all...
