Braylon Edwards to Jets, Crabtree signs with 49ers

The Jets traded WR Chansi Stuckey, special teams LB Jason Trusnik and 2 draft picks to the Browns for Braylon Edwards. 1 of the picks is most likely a number 1.

I like this trade for the Jets. I think Edwards will get past his drops and lack of production from last season, he was playing for the Browns. No excuse for 14 drops though. His upside is much higher than other "#1" receivers traded in the past 12 months... Roy Williams. Unlike Roy, Braylon can actually stretch the field and command double coverage.

I wonder how long it will take for Edwards to have an impact though. Interestingly the Jets have said they will not sign him to a long-term contract immediately. Couldn't find his current contract details, but his rookie contract expires at the end of this season. What if he walks away from the Jets? They could franshise him, intersting.

What are the Browns doing? Get rid of Kellen Winslow, start Brady Quinn and now get rid of Braylon Edwards? Manginous...

Michael Crabtree finally signed with the 49ers...
He is a rookie who is highly unlikely to have an impact this season.

  1. i can see why they would get rid of the dude beefing with ohio's own biggest sports star in the world arguably (after tiger, kobe, and a couple soccer players).... plus he hasn't done anything... from a businees standpoint they can get the same production out of stuckey now (braylon can't catch pschologically which is hard to break sometimes i.e. chuck knoblauch and nick anderson... how are you going to to have a wr that can't catch--- as lil dez would say that's like having a pool with no chicks...)... i think he will be better in NY (simply because he doesn't have to hear about how lebron could help the browns at wr) but he was not doing anything with them so why keep him captive with no production... similar to moss in oakland... moss is a beast but the raiders were not getting that patriots moss so TRADE HIM; both teams in that case had to make a change. with the draft picks hopefully you can do your homework and replace that talent/upside. problem is they are the browns and doing homework has not been their specialty outside of kellen and braylon whom they no longer have.

crabtree (or his agent) is i won't say dumb but i don't know how else to put it. a threat of sitting out to re-enter the draft is not really leverage. now he doesn't know the offense, doesn't have any relationship with his coaches or qb, no timing with the offense, and he is semi-coming off injury, not in game shape.... with that being said is he even starting? not trying to jinx the dude but this usually ends with an injury. best case scenario for ace's sake he works himself into game shape to be a crazy 2006 braylon edwards threat by week ~9... this is long shot to me though.

on braylon... espn mentioned a tweet joke saying "braylon must have really hurt this dude. the guy is 130 lbs and everyone knows braylon has hands made of stone"... i was dying.

  2. So y'all thought that Kobe was playing GM... How about Lebron orchestating a Brown trade. Now that is power!!!

  3. which i why i don't think kobe orchestrated a trade...

GMs use those "let's get the player's side of the story to validate our already made up business decision" in order to escape accountability and villify the palyers more...
yeah i don't think bron put in a call to mangini to trade braylon.

  4. I agree with the Browns trading Edwards at this point, but my question was more long-term. The Browns could be a legit team if they made good decisions. If they had the right coach and could kill staph they would be legit.

    They need:
The right head coach )this is not Mangini
    Rookie running back
    Antibacterial soap

To go along with what they had this past offseason:
    Improved D (credit Rob Ryan)
Derek Anderson (dude had a almost great season in 2007)
    Braylon Edwards
    Kellen Winslow
    Above average O Line
