Week 1 Recap

Week 1 thoughts:

Let's start with the Cowboys, does anyone other than Ace and Skip Bayless believe the Boys are better without TO after 1 game against a rebuilding team with a bad secondary? They look good, but let's be real the long TDs were all a result of missed tackles, not even broken tackles. Also the defense struggled against a unit that fired their coordinator last week. From the surface it looks like a new year with the same look, start out hot in September.... Come see me in December. Actually next week will be a big test for the Cowboys. From what I remember TO usually got off against the Giants in home games.... Oh Roy Williams smirking comment about how Romo had his most passing yards ever without TO.... chiald please. Roy Williams will never be the WR TO was. Just because he worked out in the offseason for the first time ever he isn't going to morph into an elite receiver. He definitely isn't worth his contract.

What's going on in Houston? Didn't see the game cuz I watched the redzone channel (Emeka). But damn they seemed flat from what I saw. Ok this team was bullshittin, how did they not score a single offensive point? the PAT doesn't count. Matt Schaub? Andre Johnson? They played the Jets, who are improved but damn. They cost me my fantasy win.

Matt Stafford sucks. I drafted Calvin Johnson when Culpepper was expected to start. All that talk about how he had command of the huddle is now gone... He needs to step it up cuz he is fucking up my team and quite honestly fantasy football is more important than the Lions season.

What's up with the Cardinals? Kurt Warner looks like he has returned to his 2007 aka normal form. Injury/sack/int/fumble prone. Who think Matt Leinert will get a shot at some point?

Drew Brees treated the Lions like a college scout team. 6 TDs... Reggie Bush couldn't do anything against the Lions... not a good sign.

How did the following happen:
The Bills come from ahead to lose to the Patriots because their return man, Leodis McKelvin, got a little too greedy and didn't go down to protect the lead. They had Brady on the ropes but their offense couldn't do their part. Trent Edwards didn't look comfortable, I guess not having a real line will do that. Still, up 11 with a few minutes to go there is no excuse for not closing this out.

The Bengals lose to the Broncos with on a freak long TD with less than a minute left. Has to be a deflating loss, but they were bullshittin for 3.5 quarters on offense. From what I read (again watched redzone channel, Emeka) Coles had at least 2 drops on 3rd down... Not looking good, but from what I saw the defense at least looked energized, they were ranked 10th last year.

The Raiders just couldn't hold on to their lead. They had it... JaMarcus played a pretty good but the Chargers are dangerous. The call to take away the TD pass in the second half was bullshit. The receiver established control before he was anywhere near the ground. Bullshit call. I'm not calling conspiracy like Al Davis though. LT is done, he needs to stop talking about how he is still the best. He was on the sideline at the end of the game and his team was on offense.

Jay Cutler and his WRs need to spend a lot more time together. The Bears offense looked horrible and Matt Forte wasn't gettin it done. The Packers were supposed to be an offensive juggernaut... hmm... Maybe next week. The Packers defense showed that they are still dangerous. Jay Cutler helped them with that but for a team that switched to 3-4 they look legit.

Jake De'fuckin'helomme. Please see the April 21, 2009 post in which I questioned the Panthers for giving this guy a $40M
extension. The coach hedged his answer when asked if he is still behind Delhomme, Steve Smith said the decision to stick with him was above his pay grade. I have the answer. Turn and hand the ball to DeAngelo Williams, he happens to be on my fantasy team. In reality Delhomme could rebound, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets benched.

Did the following teams have a preseason?
Texans
How does Gary Kubiak still have a job?
Redskins
Stop blaming everything on Jason Campbell like QB is the missing link...
Panthers
Cardinals
Ravens D
They let the Chiefs put up a lot of points in Baltimore.... Not a good sign.

I almost posted this before the Monday night games....

  1. personally i think ppl have been sleeping on roy since he got in the league...roy williams can play....is he TO---no; TO is hall of famer but roy is alot like herman moore to me and can get it done. he played for a sad team... as you stated see calvin johnson this past weekend... johnson's production will take a dip... does that mean he sucks or his team does.... same for andre and ocho.... at wr you need a team to really put up numbers. every wr i know that we send to the hall played for great teams... there are no eric dickerson, dick butkus, archie mannings (basically good players on sad teams but ppl still saw their greatness) at wr that get considered for the hall. long story short roy can get it done. look at randy with the raiders vs the pats.

teams like the bengals, raiders, detroit, bills, texans are fighting themselves and their own losing culture. they don't know how to close out games. i give cutler 3 weeks before he strangles a wr or whatever you call the folks he throws to. the dude is playing with a bunch number 3 and 4 wrs... this is ridiculous (they can't get one threat--they want it to be olsen but he didn't catch a pass all game and he does that alot... i had him last year). they are trying to brooks to replace urlacher but they may want to put in a call to marvin harrison too.

kurt has a tendency to start out rusty... i think it is his team though. no one is itching to see leinart in. he has to get hurt in order for leinart to see some time now. leinart's situation is worst than vince's in tennessee. kurt is old... this may be REALLY it for him---who knows?

jake delhomme is tripping... i think he may need a sports psychologist... he is heading down the nick andersen/chuck knoblauch road. d will is good but if they continue to get down early in games (whether delhomme plays or not--they can bench him if they want but josh mccown and matt moore ain't the answer) he will have a horrible jamal lewis like year. bench jake and the panthers will become the lions.

  2. I won my week 1 of fantasy....
Need i say more or should i go Bellicheck mode: "We are just focused on our next opponent: Phoenix Crackheads, you got any questions about that???"
    LOL classic !!!!

alright i'll share a couple of things. NO recaps for me...

Does Hank Baskett get cut to accomodate 4 QBs on the eagles?

Raiders look better than i thought.
    So do the Bills...

    Patriots era is officially over.
I am giving the division to Jets

In fact let me just give you all my bold division title winners right now:

    AFC EAST
    JETS (with a rookie QB)

    AFC WEST

    AFC NORTH
    Baltimore RAVENs

    AFC South
    Indinanapolis Colts

    NFC EAST
    NY Giants

    NFC WEST
    Seahawks

    NFC SOUTH
    SAINTS

    NFC North

  3. you are tripping... the pats will only get better as the season goes along... however the honeymoon in new york for sanchez will be over as soon as he plays bad (bound to happen... he is a rookie). i do believe he is for real though and can be better than say kerry collins easy... but he needs time. the pats will not go 16-0 but they will go 11-5 easy. the defense is inferior to the old teams but the offense may be better with galloway and taylor. i think the cowboys get the NFC east edging out the giants and eagles by one game (eagles will be in the mix if mcnabb is healthy (garcia can lead them too actually); otherwise they my fall behind the redskins).

i want my rematch now.... i still like how ya'll let me get a starting running back off the waiver wire in cadillac....

  4. Joose, the crackheads are coming. it took me a week to get my crap together!!!

    - Jake sucks, John Fox and Hurney deserve to be fired after putting their trust in dude, it is what it is.
    - Kinda interesting to see what happens when Vick is eligble next week, do they cut Garcia? Clealry, they can't have 4 QBs on the roster every week. Garcia had to be insurance just 4 this week, you think?
    - This week tells me if the Cards are a 9-7 team i think, or are they gonna be the 5-11 or 6-10 team.
    - Surprise of the week is the Raiders, Disappointment of the week is the Panthers.
