White Vigilante: Shootings of African Americans days after Katrina

This is an incredible shocking documentary about white men patrolling the streets of New Orleans shooting down African American men and leaving them for dead. Since the police officials did nothing to bring these men to justice, the FBI has stepped in (could U.S. General Attorney Eric Holder be pushing this). Am I late on this.. If so please forgive me...

Here's the article from The NATION:

  1. i had to look up the word vigilante because i think they are misusing the word to address these people...the word vigilante almost makes one empathetic for the "murderers".... vigilante to me would mean "hey i caught someone snooping or breaking into my home and i pulled the trigger NOT SHOOTING PEOPLE IN THE BACK FOR BEING BLACK".... i understand it was chaotic, semi-state of emergency but the victims were not shot because they were committing any offense....vigilante is like gerard butler in this jamie foxx movie, samuel jackson in a time to kill, batman.... don't you have to at least be threatening to commit a crime to be a victim of vigilanteism.... otherwise you are a victim of murder and maybe even a hate crime. shoot first and ask questions later is not really vigilanteism.

    vigilante
–noun 1. a member of a vigilance committee.
    2. any person who takes the law into his or her own hands, as by avenging a crime.
–adjective 3. done violently and summarily, without recourse to lawful procedures: vigilante justice.

i always think it is funny the words we choose....i recall folks being upset that the media was calling the black residents fleeing flooding refugees as if there are foreign. they later change to evacuees....but because these guys maybe envoke what we see on TV with dark people fleeing a warring nation for another we called them refugees. another thing they were quick to point out "looters"; didn't separate the ones getting food vs TVs because to them they look like the rodney king looters. so why are we distinguishing between these "vigilante" and murderers.... some of them looked to value african american lives the way the klan did.

  2. Yeah it's evident how they use the excuse of protecting themselves from "looters" when in fact there are no signs indicating their lives were in danger or homes... So the use of the word vigilante is far mishandled considering their public boast & celebrated video.

The worse of this story was when they shot & wounded a young man. After trying to get him help, local police officials left him to bleed to death. Then they torched the car with his body inside. I was speechless & dumbfounded... Everyone who takes the time to view this report will see calling these men vigilantes is so far removed from who they truly are... Klansmen!!
