Vick to the Eagles

Like everybody else this one blind-sided me.

I am usually not a fan of Philly's ownership, whether it be not paying players, screwing TO and not supporting McNabb as much as they should. But they are doing a lot for Vick right now.

I think this makes sense from a business standpoint because none of the money is guaranteed. Plus if Vick can get back in shape he can step in if McNabb gets hurt and misses a few games which happens more often than not.

A lot of there fans are pissed, but that's to be expected with the city and state they are in.

I'm loving McNabb for this, he lobbied to bring him in. If Vick can learn from McNabb and retain a fraction of his athleticism this could be entertaining.

What do you all think?

I thought it was really cool how Reid blew off the fans who walked out of the stadium last night, and already put their season tix on ebay by saying, "folks aren't going to agree with every decision that you make, and i know that alot of folks don't agree wtih this 1. we feel that micheal can help our football team win a superbowl."

  2. i like the decision for all the reasons you mentioned and thinks it is great how andy and donovan seem committed to this.

i also thought it was good when "fat"nabb as my boy calls him (although he looked in great shape when i saw him) quickly denounced all of that utility/slash/wildcat stuff. he mentioned that vick is a QB and before he left was one of the best. he also cautioned folks to forget about numbers; the falcons generally won or had a chance to win when he played. i think they will ease him back in with a alot of trick plays (he will play 5 plays a game max including special team situations)....for instance i would have vick as the holder on every FG and i would line him up as an up back in every punt situation for a potnetial direct snap...his presence can be used as a decoy on all of these or obviously he could be utilized in real fake situations.

i wonder what his contract really looks like....i mean generally the guys have a salary and incentives tied in to non-guaranteed money like starting games, making the pro bowl, passing for yardage, running for yardage, etc.. but he isn't going to be given the opportunity realistically to do those sorts of things. does he get his check by game after the sound of the 4th qtr?

  3. sal pal has reported there's 3 million in incentives, on top of the 5.2 mil option for next year. it would be interesting to see what's in that package: # of snaps, running/passing yards...
