Brett Favre ends up with the Vikings

Chris Carter was headed talking about this, the video is on ESPN.com.... But he did say the Vikings are now a better team. I guess this is high risk high reward.

From Trey's Email:
I don’t know why he feels the need to beat around the bush.....

The dude does not want to PRACTICE! WE TALKIN BOUT PRACTICE, NOT THE GAME.....he wants to lace ‘em up every weekend and not T-F....practice is what makes the season feel like forever as a player especially at that age....if keeps doing it like this (waffling on retirement, avoiding mini camp/practice, and thus NOT building timing and relationships necessary for football) and his NEW teammates (not just the QBs) will hate his guts ANNUALLY....

My Take:
Some of the players (All Day & Jared Allen reportedly) were lobbying real hard for Brett Favre. If this doesn't work they get what they deserve. Adrian Peterson needs to make sure Sage or TJ don't hang him out to dry when Brett misses a game.

The Vikings should stop lying to people. This was the plan all along.

  1. the comment about being better with farve but at what cost (team dynamic) pretty much can be summed up by our flag football season....

watching the games last year i felt tavaris got a bad rap...i felt he was better than a game manager like dilfer (i felt his play calling should have been more like trent edwards or flacco vs dilfer and orton)....when i watched the games i felt they lost a ton of games going extra conservative early (running/don't make mistakes) when they would be up by like 4 with 9 min left. the colts games was just like this if i remember correctly...

its the kind of thing that if they had played him last year regardless and start him now i think he would be fine...he would have grown into the role...similar to what the raiders are doing with russell, and other teams with like cutler and rivers for instance....it comes at a price and risk. price being what starting cutler did to plummer and what starting rivers did to brees...risk being the rex and leinart experiments...

bret is a year older and not in shape (high school one-a-day just ain't going to cut it)...i look for jackson and/or sage to get a shot by week 6....

let's put a bet on who is the first teammate to openly trash bret or the coaches/organization for bringing in bret.

  2. I love the reference to our flag football team, but I don't think Adrian/Adam is Favre/TJ. We were not about to go deep into the playoffs with another QB because QB wasn't the problem. We do have a much different team this year, but I like the hormonal balance better on this squad.

It will be interesting to see what it takes for Favre to get benched. Week 6 may be a bit early but Tavaris Jackson is definitely better than Kellen Clemens.

  3. i don't think he will be benched per se....i think he will be injured...he is 39 and waltzing in to play football out of shape...roger clemens (remember when he signed on to the yanks for ~$1 mill per game becuase he wanted the flexibility to be able to watch his son play ball when he was not pitching---thus barely practicing) barely was able to do this a couple of years ago and he is pitcher, playing every 5-6 games, and allegedly on steroids...i am not trying to wish injury on anyone but that's just the way i see it....

it would be a great story if they rally and he beats the snot out of green bay and does a lambeau leap with purple on....

  4. I have to say that old Brett Farve is better than young Tavaris Jackson right now. Does this stunt the growth of TJ... of course, but in a win today league like the NFL, they are better off this year with an aging Farve than with a still developing TJ.

Anyway, I'm still in the "TJ is a bum" camp, especially if Rosenfeld was challenging him for the top spot. Trey thinks TJ is the second coming of McNabb (not saying much), but I don't see it. Plus TJ is injury prone too. I don't see Farve getting hurt... he has started 2000 straight games or whatever the real number is.

The reality is that the Vikings were a Superbowl contender before Farve... and now with Farve they have one more gamer to get it done. We'll see how it plays out.

Does Madden unretire now that Brett is back???

  5. - Stands up and does a golf clap for Cris Carter, the real talk that America needed to hear. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4407313
    - He (mr. farveee) will not be a member of the Phoenix Crackheads organization! Bitchassness is not allowed on the squad!
    - Sage is a bum, but TJ is kinda ok. Farve is better than both of those guys in week 1, but i don't think he'll be better at week 16 through the playoffs after wear and tear begins to set in.
    - Minn can't win a superbowl...

  6. favre is better but i don't think with young AP that the vikes have to win now...they can afford to allow a guy to grow.....if you think TJ isn't the answer draft a young guy and do the same experiment....or allow sage to grow but putting your hopes and dreams into an "iron vinny testeverde" is more risky to me.

ace you remember our flag football team....this is pretty similar....what did it do for/to us....

every game bret starts and finishes pushes the odds that he won't complete next week's game....press your luck....whammmy.....i can see a lil whammy coming out sweeping up broken farve and dancing like turbo....those that have not seen breaking or the game show press your luck won't get it....

like i said it would be a great story if they rallied but i just don't know and in the long run this can be detrimental like the suns bringing in shaq....

where do you guys draft bret...top 10 in QBs?

  7. Category: First 11 games/Last 5 games
    Comp pct: 64.8/56.1
    Pass yards PG: 253.8/211.4
    TD-Int: 75-50/13-34
    Passer rating: 88.2/59.9

remember ace tried a smart move in trading bret last year after he posted a 6TD/1int game last year and nobody took the bait....

  8. Ace thinks Favre is a top 24 fantasy QB, I said I would draft Vick before Favre. Obviously I need to see both play first but I am pretty much in Trevor's boat, no bitchassness from Chiald Please.

  9. To answer Trey's question, if I would draft Farvee (and i'm not), he'd would not be in the top 10. Guys i'd take ahead of him are:
    - For Sure: Brady, Brees, Manning, Rivers, McNabb, Big Ben, The Replacement (A. Rodgers), Jessica Simpson's ex, Hassleback
    - Proabably: Cutler (alot of bitchassness here too), Ryan, Gerrard, and Eli

That puts him between 10 and 15 for me,

  10. yeah i got to agree with your ranking...but i am taking bret over vick....vick is going to score a total of 8TDs this year on trick plays and what not....farve will have that (and 5 picks) in 3 games
