Where is Stephen A Smith?

Have you all noticed that Stephen A Smith hasn't been on ESPN lately? During the NBA playoffs, no Stephen A Smith? Well I did a quick Google search and found out Smith and ESPN have parted ways. Smith said that he was allowed to venture into non-sports outlets however he was somewhat muzzled due to ABC not wanting to politicize ESPN. That is understandable from the standpoint of the present day TV business model, but it's still stupid in my opinion.

No Stephen A Smith? Stephen A Smith was my voice on ESPN, who else dared to blame Tony Romo and Jason Garrett and not just TO? Who else was willing to call an NBA player garbage? Who else was willing to call out little Mikey Lupica (Mr I always got picked last so I will always be jealous of athletes). ESPN is starting to bother me, No Stephen A, no Jason Whitlock, no Michael Irvin. I'm really sick of the whitewashed analysts on ESPN that don't push the envelope and call people on bullshit. I am starting to think that I should stop watching ESPN unless there is an actual game on. Is that possible? ESPN has a ridiculous monopoly on sports, how often do we check espn.com? What other channel do we watch highlights on?

  1. great points about espn in general and stephen a.

it seems they keep polarizing white figures around a lil bit longer than black ones but that's just me...skip, lupica, mariotti, kornheiser, and some others don't play by all the rules....a difference in measuring stick is not new but i feel you...it does make you want to attempt to boycott but how can you (i don't have the will to not watch sports...i watched the lacrosse championship for peak's sake)...they do seem to be getting rid of some cats i like for some garbage....i may make a t-shirt (you know like free pimp c but it will say "bring stephen a, irvin and salisbury back NOW")! salisbury is the only white dude i can think of that got the axe...not counting rush...he was actually out of line.

  2. Steven A was good stuff, but Jason Whitlock and Micheal Irvin have always been commentating bums to me. Irvin is doing what he does best on the reality joint. I hate to sound like Trey here, but white folks really aren't about seeing loud aggressive black and brown folks on display in their homes. That's the epitome of what all of those guys are, some just do the sportscasting/commentating job better than others.

Think of this the next time you see Emmitt SMith bumble thorugh another NFL countdown.
