Could LeBron James make the transition from NBA MVP to impact NFL player?

Yes, he's a prototypical TE...

  1. haven't read the article but ace and i discussed this yesterday...this all predicates on whether he is interested in taking or delivering hits....can he catch in traffic...i am sure he can catch but NFL is a lil different. i would get him to put on 10-15 extra lbs of football weight and see if he likes TE....or maybe groom him as a adrian wilson jack of all trades defender....his wing span would give qbs fits when rushes and fits in coverage....don't know if he is football quick or fast though...if you put him at WR could a shorter CB jam him at the line...it's all theory....it would be interesting but i am not ready to say this is a no brainer.

athleticism is obvious...he has it. to play physical sports requires a certain mindset...he played in high school so that helps but he was also bigger and way more athletic than his competitors at this time...being physical at that level is different....i think he could but i would worry about a basketball player or any other person that never played a physical sport like boxing, hockey, football, mma

  2. so i just watched the high school highlights (2 130 yd games in high school is no joke considering they run like 66% of the time); if he could there mentally i think he could be number 2 to 4 option depending on the team....

i am wondering how would he stack up on irvin's 4th and long....if he can't dominate that talent which i think he can't then he is a solid number 2.5 WR/TE....

  3. This would be the most interesting transition in sports. The only way I put Lebron at TE as a Winslow/Gates type player, not too much emphasis on run blocking. Very tempted to put him at WR. He may not out run CBs, but he is 6'8" and can out jump everyone on the field.

I would also like to see what he could do at safety. He definitely has the size to light up QBs and small RBs and the speed to stay with TEs. But how would he be in coverage?

    1. How well would his skills translate? Maybe
    2. Can he take the hits? Maybe
    3. Would he take the pay cut? Hell no!

I would like to see the return of the football/baseball superstar athlete like Deion and Bo Jackson. The WR/Pitcher from Notre Dame went to the Cubs and was pressured into only playing baseball. Not sure how good he would have been, but would be interesting to see him try.
