To me, it's a push. Jamie Foxx is definetly funnier than Justin timberlake, espically when he's cracking on people (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8vZ54Cw8p0). However, Justin makes much better music than dude. Both are good, wish more people were like them...
ReplyDeletethey are rare...the will smith's, foxx's, timberlake's, and i got another one hugh jackmans are rare....it's like an athlete that can make the hall of fame in one sport, the allstar team only in another, and a d-1 all american in another....
ReplyDeleteWhoa there Trey.... Will Smith? Are you saying that Will Smith is funny? or that he is a good musician? He is a great actor, but that's where it stops. He is not funny. I haven't seen as much from Hugh but from what I have he is definitely talented and humerous.

ReplyDeleteWill Smith is in that category of all round talent. Great actor, successful musician, and he brings the comedy element from his days on Fresh Prince and with his acting (Bad Boys, Men in Black, etc). He's solid all around.
ReplyDeleteTimberlake is talented musically, creatively, and with his SNL stuff. Did you see the new music video "Mother Lover"? Not quite as good as "Dick in a Box", but pretty damn funny. Not sure about Timberlake's acting skills (didn't see Alpha Dog).
Jamie Foxx is definitely in the mix. I co-sign on Hugh Jackman too. He can act, sing/dance (he was doing musicals on broadway), and he was great hosting the Oscars.
To a lesser degree, you can throw J. Lo out there with her dance, singing, fashion, and acting success (not great at anything, but has had success). She's marketed herself well, so I can't hate.
You got a bunch of acting/music fools too. Mos Def, 2Pac, Ice-T, LL, Ice Cube, Harry Connick, Ludacris, Queen Latifah...
Ok see we have taken this way too far. Will Smith while a great actor his music is a joke. J Lo? She is a backup singer at best, but she is a good actress and dancer. If she didn't have the look she would have never made it.

Mos Def shoots up just below JT and Jamie's level. He is a serious lyricist and he can definitely act... although this movie with Mike Epps might destroy his mainstream success.
I will also cosign on Luda. He was serious in Crash and on Law & Order SVU...
Ice Cube is somewhat legit, LL is legit as well as Pac, Ice T and Queen Latifah. Can't comment on Harry Connick Jr.
chase is sleeping on will....will was tight back in the day similar to most rappers turn actors....once they go to the big screens their music usualll takes a dive (LL, ice cube, ice t, dmx, andre, TI is following the list is long). parents just don't understand was the first song i learned entirely...brand new funk, summertime, girls of the world are classics....now the wild wild west joint, miami, jiggy wit it is wack but he is a semi-pioneer of hip hop....basically if you make the soundtrack title song for the movie you are end your music career will follow into the toilet. i feel will is funny enough to go on saturday night live or host a show (both reading, acting according to a script with some personality) if he wanted...what do you have against fresh prince of belair...that was the second funniest show of the 90s after your favorite martin
