Is Bill Maher Going Too Far with his Islamic comments

"They like eating at Chilli's, they like the water slides and going to strip clubs and then they log on to their Jihadist websites and feel guilty..." - Bill Maher

  1. i don't think bill is going too far (i somehow feel obligated to answer the title).... bill is a comedian and that is what comics do. certain folks that claim to run commentary shows that are to be taken seriously cannot voice these opinions in this manner...

i think he has good points at times but as comedians tend to do he always discuss the things necessary to make his point. quran school is real (there are folks studying to memorize the entire quran verbatim; this is a hard but achievable honor in the community). he neglects the schools that actually teach other things. they have "jesus camp" here. i do think he is dead on with the time scale of the religion but its funny/interesting what we see as progressive vs extreme... weird line to straddle....

  2. I definitely don't think that he goes to farm in discussing Islam because he discusses all religions in the same way. Bill Maher is about as anti-religious as it gets.

Understanding that our culture has many problems, I take issue with the fact that other people come here even though they hate our way of life. What's great about this country is they are free to feel that way. I can't go to Saudi Arabia, probably the most "liberal" country in the Middle East and live my life, I'd be killed.

Maher makes a great point regarding Islamic culture being 600 years younger than Western culture and that culture is going through what is equivalent to the Middle Ages when religion was far too influential on Western culture.

So to wrap up, no he's not going to far because he is making valid points that I haven't even heard anywhere else.
