Donovan McNabb Traded to the Redskins!

I couldn't believe this when I heard it happened. Rule number 1 in the NFL is you don't trade a player to a team that you are likely to see, that means you don't usually trade within your conference. So you damn sure don't trade within your division where you know you will see the player twice a year. Do the Eagles think McNabb is as washed up as Ace does? Are they planning to do to the Redskins what the Bucs did to the Raiders in the Superbowl? (Gruden played scout QB all week and had the D ready for Rich Gannon)

Are any of you all sold on Kevin Kolb?
Are we going to get to see Mike Vick start?
Who finishes with the better record, the Redskins or Eagles?
If the Skins trade for B Marshall are they not the most dangerous team in the division?

Not sold on Kolb, and I really wanted to see Vick traded somewhere so he can start.
The season is months away but I think the Skins finish ahead of the Eagles.
If the Skins get B Marshall they could be dangerous, however the Skins haven't had success trying to put a lot of individual pieces together in the past But I think it's worth the risk. I say the Skins trade down in Round 1 and then trade that pick to Denver for Marshall.

I have to point out how disrespectful this is. Donovan McNabb is still a top 10 QB without argument, even Ace will cosign on that one. He took the team to 5 NFC Championship games and they think Kevin Kolb is ready to replace him. Carson Palmer has never won a playoff game and he was called an elite QB until he became Mr Glass. I could go on to list the other QBs given far too much respect (Favre, Eli, damn even Romo). Just as I didn't and still don't like the way the Cowboys did TO I don't like this. No rooting for the Eagles...

  1. A few thoughts.

Crazy how they traded him in the division. I'm still baffled by this. The Skins become very interesting. Shannahan has his work cut out for him. In Denver, Shannahan inherited another 33 year old QB with a reputaion of choking in the big game and turned that into 2 rings. We'll see...

Also, I'm still trying to figure out their plans at RB. They signed Willie Parker and Larry Johnson... and still have Portis. Someone has to go, right?

The other question is where does Campbell end up? They signed Rex Grossman (another bum Gator QB), so I'm thinking that Campbell is on the way out. Does a team give him a chance to run their team? He's only 5 years in and has shown potential.

Regarding Kolb... I guess the Eagles are sold. He is the only QB in NFL history to have two 300 yard passing games in his first two starts. Not bad. To me it is simlar to the Green Bay situation. Favre still had something left, but his time had run it's course in GB. They needed a change and had a young promising QB ready to play, so they made the move. I see the same thing in Philly. Philly wasn't going to win a superbowl with Fatnabb, so they decided to see what they had with Kolb. Change can be good sometimes. I personally think the Kolb kid will be alright.

I can't see the Skins getting Marshall. Shannahan was going to cut him in Denver, so I doubt that he'll bring him to DC. I actually think a TO signing is more likely. Then Chase can start buying Redskins gear with his Eagles/Cowboys haterade.

  2. This trade tells me Philly is rebuilding, but they're trying to reload instead. It's a bet on Kolb...

The Washington side makes no sense to me:
1st. It is crazy to trade a top 40 pick for a 34 QB, there is no way that you'll get more value out of him than u would out of drafting a decent player there.
2nd. Washington is more than a QB away from making the playoffs, they have no offensive linemen, 1 half of a reciever, and no team depth. This trade makes more sense from a team like the Cards that are actually pretty staked except for a big ??? at QB.
3rd. McNabb is pretty injury prone, do they keep Campbell as a backup?

  3. i don't like the move by either team really since personally i like 3 QBs involved and want to see them all get a legitimate shot.... legitimate shot meaning stable off coordinator and some talent around them.... Mcnabb, vick, and campbell haven't been given this opportunity really....

so the deal is done going forward... campbell obviously has to be out if they picked up rex; actually i think rex is meant to be a backup so at least mcnabb's is unchallenged in washington... the story is there similar to bret playing for the vikes and playing against green bay. there will be alot of hype around this. i hope he kills philly. I am not anti-kolb; i just don't see him as an elite QB (average like jon kitna maybe). not mad at kolb; get your money on but he is no mcnabb and mcnabb wasn't really slumping for them to get rid of him (didn't he have his best season since TO left; you mean mcnabb can play if there is talent around him)... what are the redskins doing... they now have 3 running RBs, one has a dedication problem and two are semi-injury prone (well is it the RB position)... i think ace put it best... this is all crabs in barrel mentality of the NFL on every level (QB, RB, GM/ownership)...

i'm rambling... oh yeah i also refuse to really pull for the redskins until they change their name.
