2009 Pro Bowl Selections

Every year someone complains that fans should not get to vote for the pro bowl. I agree, fan favorites and name recognition result in many players undeservingly making the pro bowl for years on end thanks to punk ass announcers that dumbass fans listen to.

First, there are no Bengals going to the pro bowl... There are 8 Vikings going to the pro bowl...

AFC
QB: Peyton, Phillip Rivers, Tom Brady
Snub: Big Ben not based on stats but on more clutch performances

RB: Chris Johnson, MJD, Ray Rice
Snub: Cedric Benson was a much bigger part of his offense than Ray Rice

WR: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, Wes Welker
Snub: Vincent Jackson should be there over Brandon Marshall and Wes Welker; Unfortunately plays in San Diego

TE: Dallas Clark, Antonio Gates
Snub: None

DE: Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Mario Williams
Snub: Aaron Schoebel (This is them making up for Mario Williams not making it last year)

DT: Haloti Ngata, Vince Wilfork, Casey Hampton
Snub: No idea cuz we only ever talk about the perceived best nose tackles

OLB: Elvis Dumervil, Jams Harrison, Brian Cushing
Snub: Harrison made it on name and Cushing has been hyped all season. Cushing leads the AFC in tackles but only because he leads the league is assisted tackles, not even in the top 10 in solo tackles. This is the worst pick in the entire process

ILB: Ray Lewis, DeMeco Ryans
Snub: DJ Williams, more passes defensed and sackes than Ryan

CB: Nnamdi Asomougha, Darrelle Revis, Champ Bailey
Snub: Jonathan Joseph, Leon Hal
Note: At what point do we question Nnamdi? I saw him in 1 game this year and wasn't impressed...

FS: Ed Reed, Jarius Byrd
Snub: Antoine Bethea
SS: Brian Dawkins
Snub: Brandon Meriweather

NFC
QB: Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre
Snub: McNabb, hell Romo deserves it more than Favre

RB: Adrian Peterson, Steven Jackson, DeAngelo Williams
Snub: Frank Gore, Ryan Grant
Note: Didn't think AP should be starting due to an obvious fumbling problem, but RBs just weren't that impressive this year

WR: Larry Fitzgerald, DeSean Jackson, Miles Austin, Sidney Rice
Snub: Steve Smith of the Giants or Marques Colston

TE: Vernon Davis, Jason Witten
Snub: Brent Celek, 8 TDs to Witten's 1 or even Tony Gonzalez over Witten

DE: Jared Allen, Julius Peppers, Trent Cole
Snub: Will Smith of the Saints, 13.5 sacks

DT: Darnell Dockett, Kevin Williams, Jay Ratliff
Snub: Ratliff should be starting

OLB: Lance Briggs, DeMarcus Ware, Brian Orakpo
Snub: Clay Matthews

ILB: Patrick Willis, Jonathan Vilma
Snub: None

CB: Asante Samuel, Charles Woodson, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
Snub: None, thought DRC was undeserving but it's not as bad as I thought

FS: Darren Sharper, Nick Collins
SS: Adrian Wilson
Snubs: None

  1. big ben is clutch but his numbers and wins are not there... can't call it a true snub that brady is in

wes welker.. c'mon man... brandon marshall is the truth and playing with a game managing QB vs rivers plus he is better than VJ... brandon marshall may be a top 3 WR right now after johnson and fitz...

favre is deserving (MVP candidate)... i like macnabb but this isn't a travesty

demeco is the truth (he is the reason cushing looks good and makes the pro bowl so actually demeco is twice as desrving as anyone on the list). had him on my other fantasy team... dude is slept on and nice.

jonathan stewart may be more deserving than d will.

peppers made it on balling out of control in two hyped and televised games.

lance is the truth... the main reason the bears are able to stop anyone... had him on the fantasy squad.

champ bailey is deserving (had him on teh fantasy squad)... stop trying to put no catching bumgals dbs in the pro bowl. you criticzed them all year.

witten needs no words... he should give up his spot to findlay, olsen, celek, gonz, visancoe.. who else. they want witten and romo to excel to validate that TO good riddance.

not sold on miles austin making the pro bowl... i understand but he had a good half a season but steve smith is a long shot. he had a good first half of the season.

what about the off lineman... always overlooked. they could have sent a bengal though on the o line to satisfy critics.

congrats to joose for a successful fantasy run... pretty dominant all season (not quite no fan of romo but definitely was a favorite to win it all by week 6)... now we got to hear hear his mouth about scouting abilities for an entire year... good to see he was finally able to close out a game and fight off resurgenence from opponents during monday night (the thing that n=knocked him out last year... his face at zipps was priceless when d will was going off)... also there were critics that said you can't win playing two TEs and he did on some occassions...

  2. Since Chase is whinning again, I'll chime in...

AFC QB... no issues here. Ben is not deserving after letting his team lose 5 straight.

AFC RB... I like Benson over Rice. But whatever.

AFC WR... I like VJ over Marshall here. No issues with Welker. Dude caught a million balls. Chase would feel different if he had a tan.

I have no issues with the defense in the AFC.

NFC QB... no issues. Brett is deseving Chase. He proved it again against Chicago. Yes, they lost but dude was huge down the stretch. Chase thinks Campbell is better than Favre.

    NFC RB... no issues.

NFC WR... no issues. Steve Smith dissappeared along with the Giants down the stretch.

NFC TE... I agree with the Witten comments. Celek/Gonzo had better #'s this season. I will say that TE's do more than catch. And no one does the WHOLE job better than Jason Witten. Hands down. He is the perfect TE. Hands, Route running, Pass Blocking, Run Blocking, special teams, etc. Gates, Gonzo (my boy!), Vernon, and Dallas Clark are just CHUBBY wide receivers posing as Tight Ends. But I agree, send Celek (it will be his only opportunity anyway). Also Trey... who is "THEY"??? Everyone loves to hate the Cowboys. They are the "U" of the league.

NFC Defense... no major issues. I'd like to see some love for Mike Jenkins, but he's young so no one knows about him. Next year.

Overall, nothing crazy here. It's the NFL Pro Bowl anyway. It's not even real football. No one watches that crap. We'll see if putting it before the Super Bowl helps the ratings.

    Guru out...
