Week 8 Recap

The Ravens took on the form of a Phoenix and handed the Broncos their first loss of the season. Sorry for the relatively poetic beginning but the Ravens that played yesterday look different from the team we've watched thus far. Ray Lewis has definitely slowed down, the team is definitely not better off without him but he has missed some tackles and been out of place a couple of times. He is not as bad as the Patriots dinosaur LBs of '07 and '08 but his coordinator should find more ways to protect him. They play the Bengals, Colts, Steelers twice and the Packers. If they go 6-3 and finish 10-6 will they be in the playoffs?
The Broncos finally lost, something I thought was going to happen a few weeks ago. How will they respond? They don't have a difficult schedule and a 1.5 game lead over the Chargers. They will play the Raiders, Redskins and Chiefs twice. Tough games against the Steelers, Colts and Eagles. They also play the Giants but who knows if that's a tough game or not.

The Colts beat the 49ers without Manning throwing a TD. The Colts defense is still a little suspect as they let Frank Gore run through multiple tackles for a long TD. The 49ers are the best 3-4 team in the league. Not sure if they will make the playoffs, but the Cardinals are inconsistent enough to walk down especially with only a 1 game lead. Vernon Davis may finally be living up to his draft hype and Alex Smith looks like he could still be a starting QB...

The Jets have cooled off and are 4-4. All the talk and hype have faded surrounding the D and Mark Sanchez looks like a rookie. Miami is 3-4 but I can't take the wildcat seriously enough to care about this team.

The Eagles beat the shit out of the Giants 40-17. The Eagles lost to the Raiders but they have bounced back, the Giants lost to the Saints, Cardinals and now the Eagles... Who knows if they will bounce back. This team is dangerous, even though they have injuries on defense the offense has enough weapons to win big games. Eagles v Cowboys Sunday night in Philly.

Not sure this game needs to be discussed but some may try and call me biased... The Cowboys beat the awful ass Seahawks in Dallas. Romo seems to be playing well, but he hasn't faced any good DBs since he tried to go at Champ Baley... Romo and Roy Williams still aren't on the same page, dude is a bust. The secondary has some scary holes in it and I don't trust this team in a big game.

The Vikings beat the Packers in Brett's return to Lambeau Field... Didn't watch the game... I'm pretty sure they have wrapped up the division so we'll see what happens in the playoffs.

The Cardinals fell apart at home as Kurt "Hall of Famer?" Warner through 5 INTs... Too bad Ricky doesn't read the blog because on Friday he swore the Cardinals have something special and they are going back to the Superbowl.

The AFC North could have 3 teams in the playoffs
The NFC West may not deserve a playoff spot depending on what the 49ers do...
The Eagles are the best team in the NFC East
Does anyone still think Matt Cassel should have gotten a big contract?
Where has all the Rex Ryan talk gone?
I'm not sold that Romo can keep it together late in a big game

  1. I know Chase starts whinning when no one responds to his posts, so I'll break the ice.

The Ravens D is overrated. They are still living off their early 2000's reputation. Ed Reed is still the man, but is a step slower. Ray-ray is old... not Zack Thomas old, but he's definitely slower. Maybe he should talk to his boy Merriman and get on some of that good stuff. Flacco is the reason that the Ravens win at this point. The kid is money. Him and Matt Ryan have ruined it for any young QB coming up. Way too much expectations now. Stafford is, and next year Bradford/McCoy will feel the pressure due to their high performance.

The Colts were due for a bad game offensively. Nothing to worry about there. They will still be in the AFC championship game.

Nothing to report on the Cowboys. They beat a team that they should beat. Romo is fine, Austin is the truth, they are getting healthier, the D is doing enough... Big test next week vs. the Eagles.

The Eagles are schizo... lose to the Raiders, then spank the Giants. I'm not sold. They don't run the ball and their D is suspect. I like my teams old school... Run and play D. Looking forward to Sunday night. The "wife" will have her Mcnabb gear on, so there might be a divorce...

The Cards are also schizo... If Ricky is right, then they will just have to get hot come playoff time, like last year. I doubt they will though. Also, what happened to Q??? Is he really this bad?

Also, isn't TO the worst "#1" receiver in the league right now?

The Vikings are scary good. Brett is playing like Warner did last year. All Day still hasn't gotten off hge since game 1. Jared Allen is sacking everyone. It's a scary team. Plus their secondary is hurt right now, so it will be even scarier come December.

In fantasy news, Team Romo-Friendly spanked Chaild Please pretty easily. Chase's team is not very good. Emeka scored big this week again. As did the Trev's Crackheads. Trey's autodraft team has fizzled. I still have Chaild Please at sub-.500 and out of the playoffs as reported on this blog in week 1.

    Can't wait for Sunday Night!!!

i will be lucky to make the playoffs... but i am hopeful.

right now i have the obvious teams winning the divisions

    afc east: pats
    afc north: steelers

    wildcard: ravens and bengals

    nfc east: giants
    nfc north: vikes
    nfc south: aints
    nfc west: cards

  3. Trey I can agree with your AFC predictions although I'm not sold on the Steelers winning their division.

You think the Giants will win the NFC East and the Eagles won't even make the playoffs? Not sold on the Cardinals putting it together either... Falcons either.

I really don't want to see the Patriots in the Superbowl, I think the Colts can beat them in Indy.

  4. - TO might be the best #2 reciever in the league, cuz clearly Lee Evans is #1.
    - Veron Davis is kinda the truth, and should get better stats when Crabtree starts getting some defensive attention.
    - Miami's wildcat isn't the problem, it's the 1 play a game where they have to make the completion and can't do it because of the lack of QB (Henne, really) or WR (Ted Ginn being a #1 is a problem).
    - Kurt has been fucking up all year, but he's not gotten help from his O-Line on some games. It looks like it might be starting to get in his head that he doesn't have time, and that's why they're throwing it short. Didn't watch this weeks game.
    - John Fox & Car GM still deserves to be fired... The raindance for Sam Bradford as a Panther continues...if not, how about the Edwards kid from App State. We need somebody from the Kakalak crew on the squad when Peppers leaves.

  5. i like the eagles... D. there O is suspect... they throw too much (i mean the nfc east is tough; in any other divsion the redskins might not be firing people and benching qbs)... if they look to establish mccoy and westbrook if he plays they will be fine... but their D (special teams... i should know) can't be expected to win games for them... they are not the ravens... giants play well on the road so they have to be taken seriously... but if anyone fizzles it probably will be the cowboys but i don't know. i had to pick someone.

you know i can't go with the bungals... plus the lost the defensive player of the year after jared allen.

joose would love trev's referring to lee evans as a number 1.

i also think crabtree will be good for vernon... i trashed him a few weeks ago... "can't win with em". but he has played better as of late.

  6. The Eagles O isn't suspect, they don't like to run the ball, but that's nothing new. The NFC isnt' really a "tough" division... The Giants D is broke and Brandon Jacobs has ninja feet, the Cowboys weren't a tough team even when Parcells was there. The Redskins low key might be the toughest team in the league...

Why are teams lining up to draft Sam Bradford?

No excuses for Kurt, he is having one of those years that makes him a suspect Hall of Famer right on time.

TO and Lee Evans are suffering from a horrible O-Line. The #1 QB got hurt because he doesn't have time to throw. You can't put up stats when your QB is running for his life.
