NFL Week 3 Recap

Boys handled the Texans. The Cowboys proved they aren’t as dysfunctional as a lot of people thought and the Texans proved they are still the same inconsistent team they have been under Gary Kubiak for the past 3 years. I have to give credit to R Williams, he’s still a bust but after 2 years he finally had his breakout game as a Cowboy. When he’s consistent I’ll stop criticizing. How will the Texans deal with A Johnson’s ankle? They don’t have a bye until week 7.

Eagles destroyed the Jags. Mike Vick continues to ball, he is a top 10 QB and that is a conservative statement. Who is playing better than him? Not 10 QBs. J Maclin is playing better than even I thought he would. The yards aren’t there but he is vulturing DJ’s TDs just like McGahee did to Ray Rice last year. If the O-Line can get it together this team could be really dangerous. Even Ace Wilson was surprised by Vick’s play. ESPN has the Eagles ranked 14... I know I'm biased, but there are 13 teams better than the Eagles? The Titans, Bengals and Dolphins are among them? Chiald Please!

The Ravens beat the Browns, only reason this is up here is because Anquan Boldin was ballin… 3 TDs, 142 Yds. Ace said it’s not week 4 yet, that’s when he says Boldin gets hurt.

The Saints lost to the Falcons. Trey called this one. The Saints had 1st & Goal in OT and they decided to kick the FG, promptly missed and the Falcons ran down the field and scored. The Saints kept the Falcons in the game with their turnovers. I’m not impressed by Matt Ryan, Does M Turner want to play football?

The Steelers won again, beating the Bucs to go 3-0 without Big Ben. T Polomalu is making a play for MVP. How dangerous could this team be with Big Ben? How long will it take him to get back into the groove? Josh Freeman is quitely having a good second year… The Bucs are 2-1.

Didn’t see the Packers v Bears game due to work, but the Bears won. From the highlights the Packers gave the game away in stupid penalties and a late fumble. I did pick the Bears to make the playoffs though…

The Seahawks beat the Chargers. I don’t remember where I heard it but Charlie Whitehurts, the Seahawks backup QB, has been P Rivers backup for 3 years. Obvious that gave Pete Carroll an advantage but it didn’t keep his team from trying to let the Charges comeback and win. Both teams are inconsistent. Where would the Chargers be with VJ and without the “Lord Of No Rings” AJ Smith?

The Jets beat the Dolphins in another game I didn’t see. B Marshall had his breakout game (R Williams take note; 3 games, not your 3rd season) but he couldn’t beat double coverage in the end zone at the end of the game. Sanchez looks better but still almost lost the game.

Other Games:
Colts beat Broncos
Patriots beat the Bills
Bengals beat the Panthers, Carson is still a bum
Titans beat Giants, when is Coughlin getting fired?
Chiefs beat the 49ers, what’s up with that team?
Vikings beat the Lions
Rams beat the Skins
Cardinals beat Raiders

Week 4:
McNabb returns to Philly, he doesn’t have the weapons…
Ravens v Steelers, we’ll find out how good the Steelers are

Fantasy Recap:
Maximus Decimus Meridius 3-0
Auckland 1-2 (beat by Babies & Backrubs)
Babies & Backrubs 2-1
Damn, Vick does look good 1-2 (Lost by 1.18)
Wearin Vick Jersey to Work 1-2
I Go to Tucson 1-2 (beat by Maxiums Decimus Meridius)

  1. vick looking good is an understatement... he looks like what some thought he would be at 24 yrs of age and others at 28-29 yrs of age...

when the saints lined up to kick on first down i turned and asked "maximus" who do you trust more the saints offense to get 7 or hartlett to get 3... FG kickers have not been consistent in about 3 yrs now... remember we discussed this a couple fantasy seasons ago when previously to me waiving bironas last yr after week 1. they are not as coldblooded and hard anymore. where's morten andersen?

funny how fitz is strugglin and q is ballin... i will just leave that at THAT.

i think i called troy and mario williams as def mvp candidates right? peppers may be making a case. we'll see.

babies and backrubs.... ok i took my 3 yr old soon to be 4 daughter to a b'day pool party with her classmates. at one point the 6 yr old b'day girl and a 5 yr old classmate were alternating massaging each other on lawn chairs pool side (i mean laying down using towels and everything). a parent was there with a camera and missed the shot. she tought is was CUTE enough to have the re-enact so she could snap a photo... i thought they were definitely too young to be given the feedback re-enact. i could possibly see you ignoring it hoping that its harmless but don't encourage it in any way... i spoke with the guru about this before.... i think often parents forget that what may be cute at 5 will not be cute at 10 and up and you are better off discouraging the behavior vs snapping photos to show and laugh about later... the laughter can be misinterpreted. my feelings... i know i am not perfect and i hate judging parenting styles but gees...

  2. HOW 'BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!! I know, I know... they are still 1-2... but the division leading Eagles (more on them later) are 2-1 and everyone else is 1-2 as well. We'll see if they can right the ship. Bye week to get Kosier healthy... then tough games vs. Tennessee and @Minnesota. Then cupcakes with the Giants and Jacksonville. That puts them at 5-2 or 4-3 going into the HUGE matchup @Green Bay. We'll know whether they are for real or not after that game.

Yes, Vick has impressed me. As has been well documented, I am not a huge Vick fan. He's been more flash than anything and always seemed to make the wrong play at the wrong time. Vick 2.0 seems like he has taken the all the good parts of his game (the quickness, arm strength, elusiveness, play-making ability, ability to extend the play) and removed the bad parts (lack of touch, fumblitis, trying to hit the homerun everytime, taking bad sacks (still takes a lot of hits though), etc). If this keeps up, he's on pace for MVP. WORD OF CAUTION... he's done this vs. Detroit and Jacksonville. To paraphrase Denny Green... Let's not crown his ass just yet. We'll see how he does vs. Fatnabb... then looking forward to the ATL game.

Gotta give some love to Sanchez. Y'all knocked him after week 1. A 1 point loss to a damn good Baltimore team... Since then he has been balling. All this without his best WR Santonio Holmes. With Holmes, Braylon, and a damn good Dustin Keller, he will be just fine. Not to mention LT, who has looked pretty damn good as well (NO CHASE HE AIN'T DONE YET). Their D is already solid... once Revis return to form, they will be even better. The Jets are very scary right now.

When do I play Humble one in fantasy??? Can't wait to spank dat ass... Looks like week 10. By then, Chase will have made a few bad drops and poor decisions and I should have executed my yearly season changing trade... Should be good to go.

Regarding little kids massaging each other or holding hands or doing any other "CUTE" adult like things... HELL NO! Damn TV.

  3. - The Cowboys O-Line couldn't block their way out of a wet paper bag. Until that changes, they're a 8-9 win team at best. The NFC East looks like it's taking a step back so they still might make the playoffs, but it's not the NFC juggernaut folks were prediciting at the start of the year.
    - It's been 2 impressive games, but I'm not willing to say Vick is a top 10 QB yet. If he keeps it up all year, he's about #8.
    - Boldin has been ballin', I can say that I was wrong about the dude. I still feel he'll miss 4 games this year, but there's no question that he's a #1.
    - The Packers gave that game away from start to finish. Cutler had at least 4 picks that he lucked out of (2 penalties, 2 blatant drops by Packer DB's including 1 on the winning drive). The Bears have been fucking Lady Luck all year, and they've gotta get soft sometime. This is ridiculous...
    - Jets/Dolphins show how beastly Revis is. Cromartie couldn't handle Marshall, and Cro's backup was getting done over by the other Dolphins recievers. Ricky Williams looks like he's handcuffed to a purple tree instead of running the doggone football.
