Tony Romo Fan Club Draft Results

I thought I would make the season a little more interesting by starting the trash talk now. I'm calling out the ridiculous reaches that I saw on Tuesday, but hey it's your money.

Reggie Wayne end of round 2 (Ace)
-Anquan Boldin and Steve Smith were still on the board
Jason Witten end of round 4 (Ace)
-Antonio Gates will have more fantasy points than Witten, he was still on the board
-As was 85 and I would even have to consider Roy Williams

Marion Barber end of round 2 (Emeka)
-Emeka did you watch a Cowboys game last year? You know Felix is healthy right?
Ray Rice end of round 4 (Emeka)
-I know you claim the Ravens are your number 1 team but really?
-McFadden and Lendale were still there
Vincent Jackson beginning of round 5 (Emeka)
- 85 was taken 1 pick later... chiald please (unless you purposely left him for me)

Jamal Lewis mid round 6 (Kenya)
This is because Cedric Benson was taken at the end of round 6
-Old ass Jamal Lewis over Cedric Benson?

Felix Jones end of round 4 (Trevor)
-I know he returns kicks but he's still the 2nd option
Chicago D beginning of round 7
-Are you sure the Bears D has improved since last year? No major additions....

Ronnie Brown mid 2nd round (Angel)
-He must not know Brown had 5 TDs in 1 game last year...
Brandon Marshall beginning of the 4th (No Fan of Romo)
-If he's traded his stats are shot as Roy Williams were
-If not I'm going with 85 or Braylon Edwards before him this year
Matt Ryna end of round 5 (SMASHMOUTH)
-Maybe it's cuz I don't like the guy...

Trey gave us all an example of why not to autopick
BoweInThe3rdRd?
1. (11) Clinton Portis
2. (14) Steve Slaton
3. (35) Dwayne Bowe
4. (38) Kurt Warner
5. (59) Roy Williams
6. (62) Darren McFadden
7. (83) Anthony Gonzalez
8. (86) Kellen Winslow
9. (107) Philadelphia
10. (110) Rob Bironas
11. (131) Eli Manning
12. (134) Sammy Morris
13. (155) Deion Branch
14. (158) Earnest Graham
15. (179) Jeremy Maclin

Ace I understand why you couldn't pass on Peterson. We would never let you live that down if you picked Forte instead and he has a so so year. Already discussed your 2nd favorite player Jason Witten...

Emeka nice pickup with Rodgers in the 3rd but do you really think MJD, Barber and Rodgers are better picks than DeAngelo Williams, C Johnson and Anquan? I'm just sayin you could have had MJD/Williams with C Johnson and Rodgers... I know you're not big on Q but he'll outscore Barber.

Trevor your team looked like a beast through 3 rounds, then you picked Felix about a round early. But Turner, Manning and Steve Smith was good.

As you would expect my team is the shit.... I don't do low risk. Would you like to kiss the baby now or wait til next Thursday?

  1. I like the Bears on the come up, they had a lot of injuries last year...Maybe a round early. First, still pissed at the Internet spazzing at Emeka's house right during Ace's pick preventing me from actually picking my guy!

Needed a 2nd RB, it was starting to get cruical out there. Jones catching balls, returning punts, and splitting carries with Barber will work as a #2. I like Steve Smith on the team, but i still spazzed in not taking Randy Moss.

  2. trev, felix is an awesome pick...i had him last year....he avg'ed like 10 yrds everytime he touched the rock and what if barber gets hurt...as a back up felix is solid. gotta take the bears D at some point....they play detroit twice a year.... not to mention if the vikings O struggles they play them twice.

ronnie brown is a excellent pick...most underrated rb in the league in my opinion....he does it all including throws. the wildcat is centered around him.

witten is also a decent pick...i think he will have a season similar to last year...due to more opportunities from the TO departure he has to catch balls...problem is he will not be as open...i look for those two to canacel out and he still does well.

i think people have their favorite guys; for instance emeka's has a love affair with VJ. i won't fault him taking a guy he projected to be good when no one else did (like two years ago) a lttle early before someone else grabs him.... ray rice is a good pick...b more is a run first team and ray is the starter this year...both macfadden who i hope does well and lendale are not starters.

then some have the guys they don't like...for me its roddy white....i would have taken roddy in the 7th round maybe because i just don't want to have to root for him.

chaild please (pun intended) you did a good job at WR and that is it...everyone else you have is a crap shoot...with orton dislocated finger and unhappy brandon marshall you have no back up....this would be ok if you had manning (peyton that is) who plays every game and never stinks it up but you have extremely middle of the road hasselbeck a consistent 9 pts per game qb (he will avg 2.2 TDs and 1.8 INTs and 205 yds the entire season)...i know i have had him multiple times as my BACKUP.

thomas jones is unhappy...i see leon washington on the screen alot more these days as the a jets leader...this is not good for thomas as he etches himself in a larry johnson situation. d will is a decent pick until jonathan stewart takes half his snaps by mid season (they are a true rb tag team although williams starts----they just are)... now that williams is THE DUDE supposedly he will not shock anyone...folks will gameplan for him and his TDs and yrd per carry will drop. and you have knowshon....decent pick but he is in the ultimate rb by committee situation 2nd only to NE (but they have your favorite NE disciple---knowshow season will be like tatum bell's with the broncos).

  3. auto pick semi-sucks....i say semi because it takes my feelings out of the situation so i do not past up on good picks because i don't like a dude...HOWEVER, it sucks because i don't want to take TEs, kickers and D early....but i would have not taken bowe in the third. the more i think about this may not be that bad... with KC horrible run game, the departure of tony gonz, the pick up of cassell, THIS MAY NOT BE THAT BAD. i expect them to be down and tossing the rock a lot and he is the only option on that team i can name...roy will be fine with no TO (he should have a 85 yrd, .70 TD avg thru the yr). i am solid at running back (chaild please can front but he had clinton last year, and i think washington opening up the deep down the field passing this year as everyone has alluded to will help clinton down the stretch where he fell off last year--hopefully he stays healthy). winslow will have a break out year similar to the one he had with derek a while back...they have inconsistencies at QB and gameplan level so that always points to more options for TEs; he is the obvious safety valve (better than owen daniels with a hurt qb and vernon with no qb--trust me i had vernon---BUM and a half) vs wideouts.

can't front though... i think your wr line up is money...but i look for you to have issues deciding who to start (in real football not a problem---in fantasy huge problem).... it is going to be awesome watching you upset leaving a delta of 20 points on the bench week to week.... AND NO ONE BAIL HIM OUT OF THE PREDICTAMENT WITH A TRADE.... let him struggle. one week chaild please breaks out and then the next flacco finds mason and then then next kurt forgets about fitz and finds boldin only to follow it up with a week where he only throws to fitz and breaston.....it is going to be awesome!

  5. Chaild Please! You understand that you need to start a QB in this league, right? Hasselbeck and Orton ain't getting it done. And your running back situation isn't much better. DeAngelo and a bunch of scrubs. Good luck with that. Not to mention that you have Mr. Glass on your team (who will play 10 games if he's lucky). Just bad decisions all around. I think this squad struggles to achieve a .500 record. In fact I guarantee that my team finishes with a better record/more points than Chaild Please. It's a wrap.

Romo to Witten baby!!! Don't hate!

  6. Whoa. Okay Mezan's Daddy I'll respond one shot at a time.
    1. Didn't want Thomas Jones, my connection dropped. I will admit that I was deciding between McFadden or LenDale. But Jones is the starter on a run first, second and almost always team. Rex Ryan...

    2. I am already planning to trade one of my WRs within a few weeks, it's not a bail out. Don't cut off your nose to spite your face...

    3. Johnathan Stewart isn't healthy.

    4. Orton is a hedge, if Knowshon is a beast then I can drop him. If not they will always be behind and he has weapons in Royal, Stokley and Scheffler.

    5. Vernon is a wait and see

    6. I like some of your autopicks (The Soldier, Portis, Slaton is ok and I considered McFadden. I couldn't deal with my team being out of my control like that though.

    Ace:
I took a risk, that's what life is about. After the elite QBs there isn't much of a difference.

Who wants to raise the stakes?

  7. And Ace you are really taking a risk with Romo and Witten. Didn't Martellus Bennett have more TDs than Witten last year?

  8. you think the 2009 black olympics champion is ready to outplay witten?

  9. On my team:
    - @ pick #47, i needed a 2nd RB. In my mind, Jones was the best guy available because of the receptions & return yards. Also, he should get some extra touches that aren't wasted on TO this year (Dallas should be a run-first, playaction team this year. That's their strength).
    - I figured the run of defense would happen in the 8th, when i had the next to last pick. I knew Hixon would be there, figured i'd get the D i wanted.

    On Others:
    - Bowe was 23rd on my board, I went with Steve Smith because I'm a Panthers fan and they weren't that far apart. He's KC's only recieving threat, and they're going to be behind alot this year.
    - I didn't realize Ace had Whitten when i talked shit about him trading McNabb. Kinda makes sense, doubling the value of those TD passes.
    - Eww, i would totally take Jones over Lendale/McFadden. At least he starts today, those 2 are either not starting or too injury prone to give the job.
    - Hassleback isn't a bad pick, Sea just got everybody injured last year. Dude was a top 10 QB a year ago.
