Ace has a pretty good list, no Moon like you said. Favre better not be in the top 5 and shouldn't be in the top 20.
ReplyDeleteWas Mean Joe Green that good?
I agree with LT and Ray Lewis, I guess on Butkus... What the order though? I say just as Ace has it. I don't think Butkus should be this high. They are trippin, Deion should be in the top 20 at least...
No kickers have been on the list, so there won't be any. Vinataeri (spelling) would be the 1 to make it.
At the end of the day the list is littered with old guys who played when the best athletes were working on farms or in factories. I discount 95% of players before Jim Brown's career.
i agree the list should start with the official naming of the game that is the super bowl or with lombardi's packers maybe.
ReplyDeleteto help me out deion said there wer 19 QBs and so far only 13 have been mentioned (are there 6 Qbs better than marino and elway)....
my ranking is:
20. dick butkus was good but seem like more of an intimidator and "dirty" player relative to the times... he was clotheslining people on a regular basis
ok maybe its easier ranking the other way because i know my top 5:
1. jerry rice
2. jim brown
3. lawrence taylor
4. walter payton
5. joe montana
6. reggie white
7. johnny unitas
8. barry sanders
9. ronnie lott
10.Anthony Munoz
11.Sammy baugh (know your history; dude was nice)
12.Deacon jones
13.cris carter (maybe)
14.peyton manning
15.warren moon
16.ray lewis
17.shannon sharpe(maybe)
18.derrick thomas
19.bret favre
20.dick butkus
I would actually like to see Trey's list (when you account for the BS you know is coming)... Sharpe is not going to be there, Chris Carter either, D Thomas... nah he didn't play long enough. Warren Moon ahead of Brady, Marino and Elway, not gonna happen with these voters...
ReplyDeletei am sure in the spots of carter, moon, and sharpe they have some old heads i know nothing about...
ReplyDeletei think sharpe has a shot... is he not the best TE to ever play (pretty much the first WR blocking on the line; now there are plenty).... he has 2 rings right? 2 with denver maybe one more with the ravens... i would check but i don't have time. but i seriuosly doubt carter and moon are there (if moon is there its out of guilt).... i think d thomas has a shot at 20... if they mention 16 without mentioning derrick he's not on the list....
sammy baugh is there though... he was all galaxy back when we were too busy playing in the negroe leagues or whatevr timeframe it was (i wasn't alive).
